The Band

The Rumble-O’s are a Bristol-based instrumental surf band, bringing a fresh take on the inspirational guitar and organ driven party music of the late fifties and early sixties. Blending the futuristic sounds of British pioneer Joe Meek with the emotive twang of Hank Marvin, the Rumble-O’s put a decidedly British spin on this quintessential American music form.

Formed in 2012, The Rumble-O’s focused on quirky re-workings of traditional surf guitar classics from Dick Dale and Link Wray to bizarre adaptations of unexpected tunes from the likes of Henry Mancini, Georges Bizet and The Sex Pistols.  The band quickly developed a unique sound (here by known as Severn Delta Surf) and have recently captured it on their first long-player of original music, released in May 2014.

Led by accomplished lead guitarist Andy Taylor (Nicky Wire Band/Adrian Utley’s Guitar Orchestra/Minima) the band also features the well known bassist Gaz Williams fresh from global jaunts with Karl Hyde/Underworld, The David Rhodes Trio and recent performances with Marc Almond and Carl Barât.  Keyboard and trumpet duties are handled by Bristol legend Helen “Banga” Stanley, formally of the sleazy underground jazzers Press Play and with former Tender Machine member James “Chippy” Minton ably handling the drums the band is a powerhouse of talent and experience.
